On this page

A fee guide is only as good as its last check. This page is a dated log of marketplace fee changes, not a running history of every adjustment a platform has ever made — it lists only the changes that this site's own saved source pages can evidence, each with the date it took effect and the page it comes from. If a change isn't here, either it happened before this site started tracking fees or the page documenting it hasn't been saved yet.

This guide isn't affiliated with, or written on behalf of, eBay, Mercari, Poshmark, Whatnot or Depop; every row above is drawn from that marketplace's own current fee or policy page, saved and read directly rather than taken from a news summary or a seller forum.

Depop: no more US selling fee

Depop's help page states plainly that no Depop selling fee is charged to sellers based in the UK, US or Australia. Our saved copy of that page doesn't carry the day the change took effect, only the current, standing rule, so this guide gives the month rather than claiming a precision the page itself doesn't offer. A US sale today pays payment processing — 3.3% plus $0.45 — and nothing else, unless the listing was boosted.

Mercari: one fee became two, and the base moved

Before January 6, 2025, a Mercari sale carried a 10% fee paid by the buyer plus a processing charge of $0.50 and 2.9%, both taken from the buyer's side. Since that date, the seller pays a 10% selling fee instead, and the buyer pays a separate 3.6% Buyer Protection fee with no processing charge on top. A listing created before the change kept the old structure until it was updated; Mercari's help page says those older listings were switched over automatically within a week regardless, so the 10% seller fee is the one that applies to a listing today.

Poshmark: the current policy replaced a brief reversal

Poshmark's fee history includes a notice, effective October 24, 2024, that reverted the US structure to its original shape and dropped a Buyer Protection Fee that had been added earlier. Version 1.7, effective a month later on November 25, 2024, is the policy in force now: a flat $2.95 for sales under $15, and 20% starting at exactly $15.00. That $15.00 boundary is worth calling out on its own — older notice banners described the flat fee as covering "$15 and under," but the current policy text draws the line at $15, putting a $15.00 sale in the 20% band rather than the flat one.

Whatnot: the biggest structural change on this list

Whatnot's move from a flat commission to a 28-day, sales-tiered table is the largest change any of these four marketplaces made this year. See Whatnot's seller fee tiers, explained for the full table, the rolling window, and what the new structure doesn't cover.
